| Here are some HUGE WOOD! I was thinking of making some large wood lures to use for Tossing to Tuna off-shore or even to troll them. So Here are some I came up with. They are all Rock Maple and weigh in between 4.25 and 6.5 oz. They are rigged with 6/0 Treble hooks and 8.0 Stainless rear hooks. They are very SOLID: |

| Come to think of it, I've seen stripers take whole mackrel and many LARGE baits, so I guess these would work well for them too  |

| Hell yea a striper will take that. I have had 36 inch stripers take an adult hickory shad without a problem

| Armand, I like the looks of the little school of mackeral you got going. I have tried a number of custom made wooden top water lures on YFT and BFT, and every one of them except two have disenegrated, typically just below the lip or head. The through wire will hold them together, but once split or broken are rendered pretty much useless except for parts or bluefish throwaways. The 2 I have been given that held up were both made out of something referred to as "jungle wood", a very dense hardwood used on some docks. I would definitely like to get the last two to the bottom to try this year, and would like to talk with you further at the NE show in Prov. on maybe getting some custom designed stuff from you. Is the wood you are using similar to the stuff I got? Also, can you color those acrylic lures you have like these wodden? It looks like they might not hold paint all that well..... I have always taken off the trebles on my stuff I throw at tuna, because I feel they can shake the trebles out easier, and they just don't hold up to boot. I usually put double point tuna style hooks in the middle, with a 4x live bait or siwash needle point at the back, in a smaller size. This is to try and avoid a large entry hole on the hook set, as their mouths aren't very strong in comparison to their power....alot of times they pop off after working the hook free due to tearing. The paint job is awesome. A hot color out there for me this year was the "rainbow" looking color scheme Yo Zuri has out called dolphin. Very pink and bright green with lots of blue and purple irredescence. Have you seen and or done this color? Sorry to inundate you with questions, just making a few observations and daydreaming of catching tunnoids on top.....

I Can reserve those two for you. I will be making these lures available in limited number. They will require some lead time to produce and the price is gonna be more than our standard lures. Thanks for the info, I figured the acrylics were a no paint thing. Keep up the posts on these beauties, you just might catch a few more fisherman  ......

| CaptDom - Not sure, but I think the Jungle wood that you mention is also refered to as African Padauk (very hard). I have use Padauk for a couple of projects and it will last forever. I also think that the Atlantic City boardwalk was made with it. I googled a website if anyone wants to check it out. My guess is that it would be a great material for lures.
