BBL...don't underestimate that copper...it was the rage for a while and it still is a producer. I often will hit the copper with a fog of gold also. Don't have any on hand...next paint day! As far as the tails are concerned...as far as in the salt, I don't use much marabou. I've found that it just doesn't stand up to the conditions or the mouths of fish. Feathers are OK for a while but gone on the first blue. Buck tails are great, and fair a little better with the blues. There are some synthetics that are the answer. NO, they still won't out last a steady diet of blues, but they do last the longest. The nylon type material that most are made from also has a shine to it that adds to the attractiveness. Just remember one thing...SPARSE...I've said it before. Some guys like to tie tails that are nice and thick...try to avoid that. It will kill plug action and is not natural. Take a look at a baitfish tail...they are nearly transparent... I've been giving tail hook dressing some serious thought lately. Last season most of the fish that I caught were on plugs with NO DRESSING. I got into some pretty big slugs of fish now and then (usually bass and blue mixes) and I chose not to use dressed hooks because of the blues...we hammered 'em. It's not that I think that the dressed hooks would have done better or worse, it's just an issue of are they necessary for the fish or the fisherman? Personally...they LOOK great!
