MARILYN JEAN CHARTERS Windy

Todays open boat trip provided some tough conditions. While the weather started out ok with a little snow and a light breeze in the am by 1pm the wind was up from the NW and the current was roaring. The guys needed 12/14oz to hold bottom in only 60ft of water. Even in the tough conditions the guys managed a respectable 41 Keepers. Steve was HH and won the pool with a nice 11lb Tog , he had 13 keepers retaining just his limit. Donald his the crew had the 14 fish with some quality Tog to 8 lbs. Glen had a few keepers and some shorts. While Mike had the rest retaining his limit . There was plenty of shorts today as well , a change from recent trips ,where we didnt see to many.

41

41/7 6 per man avg.

Good G if we didnt do that on a regular basis well lets just say the repo man would be coming.

And as always the 2 or 3 more exp. anglers had 25 of those .

That day 2 good friends and very good fishermen went out on 2 different boats and between 4 guys on 2 boats landed close to 70 tog (only keeping 40) all 3 boats had good trips in 3 different areas.

We have been fortunate with the weather this year, but in all honesty our best fishing area has not produced this year the way it has in years past.
The area of 17fathoms is where we normally fish and in normal years 30 to 40 keepers would be an avg. catch .With some limit days mixed in. Much the same as we had earlier in the season when we were fishing the S reef area, Except 17 is deeper. hence the name

I dont think we have had a boat limit plus day since December. Im not gripping the fishing has been ok and the weather has been great , but by no means has this been a banner year quantity wise. Quality wise we have had some really big tog . That seems to be the trend the last few years we have been seeing more quality fish , more often

What a great state we live in here in Ct.Dont these states look at one anothers regulations .I guess because of the ocean side compared to the LIS side could make somewhat of a difference in fish numbers .But come on a limit of 4 fish really sucks especially fishing in the Mystic area with NY boats fishing in the same spot. They keep fishin when we go home with 4 fish Needed to vent

venting is good

i do it all summer while NJ boats keep 8 flatties at 16 . while i toss 17.5 back and only keep 3 or whatever .

Should be a coast wide reg. but what do I know
