Hey longrodders,
This just in. New forum dedicated to the art of flyfishing. Awsome, thanks Possum.

So let's start this off with a who's who in flyfishing. Stand up and be heard. Do you fish from a boat, kayak, or beach, let's hear it. Whether your a flyrodder or just interested in this method of fishing, post away. Don't be shy:embarassed:

I dont fly fish but catching a fish on a fly rod is a blast. I put a small spinning reel with 4 to 6 lb line on my fly rod. I use it to cast a 1/8 oz shad dart to catch shad in the sping. The shad run in on the CT river can go wild.

I fly fish, not exclusively though.

I have a 20 Seacraft SF that I use, A few 8-9 wt outfits and also tie my own flys. Mainly bass and blues. I am currently building a 6-7wt rod for some lighter action.

I always wanted to try and catch fluke on a flyrod, anyone out there try this?

I used to flyfish for trout and bass but haven't tried it in saltwater.
I'd suspect my current rod/reel would be a little light. Could use it
for hickory shad and schoolies/sm blues I guess.

Since I bought my boat I haven't flyfished a lot but I have been pretty successful in Jones Inlet and Green Island. Green Island is the place in the spring if they ever finish the bridge and reopen it. Nothing like a 20" blue fish on a 20# flouro leader.

Fly fishing the flats is my favorite thing to do. Shallow water sight fishing for redfish and trout is available year round. In the summer, I prefer to target tarpon from 5-100+ pounds. The ultimate flyrod fish.

Capt. Chris, Yes Tarpon, the most sought after species on a fly rod. I'll take your grand slam any day over ours.
My favs in this order:
1. Tarpon
2. bonefish
3. Albie
4. Bluefish
5. Striped Bass
6. Permit (have yet to fish for)
