| Just an FYI- I don't know what parking will be like as there will be a referendum going on at town hall from 6am until 8pm on Wed. For those that can't make it, the deadline for written comments will be accepted at the hearing or until 5:00 PM on March 31, 2006. Please send written comments to dep.marine.fisheries@po.state.ct.us with "Fluke Options" in the subject line. Contact David Simpson at 860.434.6043 if you have any questions. Hope to see some of you there.

| Curious what option # you guys favor? I'm torn as we catch them early mid-May thru last half of Sep. Nothing really fits that. 2 gives us the front end but season ends early. 1,3 and 5 you lose May but gain the back end 4 lets you fish in May but ends a few weeks early Note: bag limits vary with the last three options.

| Meeting lasted approx 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Not many people showed up considering how many fish for fluke. One thing was everyone pretty much agreed on which set of regs they would prefer. Starts in May, Ends in Sep, 4 fish and 18". There were two similar although one gave us two more weeks in September. Another option was to go to a regional set of regs. It sounds good to me to do this to even things out with neighboring states. Many combinations were shown 3 state CT,RI,MA CT,RI,NY 4 state CT,RI,MA,NY However this year was not the year to start it up as CT is actually making out on its own this season compared to say NY. We were under last year. I'm hoping to get something in writing from DEP and will post numbers later. Biggest discussions were season length, start and end dates. Also minimum fish length and bag limit. As I said most preferred a longer season with smaller bag and keep size the same. There were some other proposed sets, other than the original four. One was fish at 17" and the other at 17 1/2". I think it was displayed to show how much the season would need to be shortened to move the size limits. No one much cared for these because season was so short (two months or less as I recall). Well put our two cents in, on record, as to how we feel. Now it's wait and see. Any questions and maybe it'll ring a bell for me.

| Actually they are supposed to get done in time and have the info updated. And the list last night was slightly different than the list posted. There were a total of six options, two of which were not approved but showed lowering fish size as it effects season length. The two most popular were • Start in May (don't have exact date, should have written it down. ) • End in September (as I recall one was the 9th and the other around 16th) • Limit for both of the mentioned was 4 fish • Size was 18" for both. I've always been frustrated the way there seem to be no deadlines. I'd like all regs to be ready and in place prior to Jan 1 of the year they are in affect.
