Debris in Block Island Sound

Hi All,
For those transiting Block Island Sound whether heading to fish BI, Montauk, or to the offshore arena, beward of some SERIOUS amounts of debris- logs, trees, floating line, (I saw a refrigerator), etc. floating on or just under the surface that will most definitley spoil your day.
Two years ago, I ran over two subsurface tractor tires/bumpers that had fallen off a barge and screwed my hull. The damage was labled normal wear and tear by the insurance company's adjuster.
While we're on the topic of potential damage to your boats and insurance claims.. be aware that if you are insured by St. Paul Fire & Marine/Travelers that they do not honor their obligations and will find every exemption to put it to you when it comes time to make a claim as evidenced from not only my experience, butqutie a few others that we came across during the course of the ensuing battle.
