Sounds to me like phase separation of the ethanol from moisture (water) in the fuel. I would fully drain the separtor form the bottom AND drain the carbs, you may have another filter under the cowl that could be full. I wouldn't hurt to drain the tank completly and start fresh, the new gas is a pisser if you get water in it. The previous suggestion of running on another tank is excellent for determining if you problem is fuel related or not, that would be the first step.
