| Reel Draggin' Tackle Report -20 July Reel Draggin’ Tackle Fishing Team Report – July 20, 2007 Fishing today Aboard The Muff Diver Location: Ocean City, Md. - Sunset Marina Boat: 1984 46' Ocean Yacht Captain: Joe Riley Mate: Aaron Rogers Reel Draggin’ Tackle Crew: Vince Lahr, Bob Sutton, Jose Martin, Joe Weschler, Steve Eastman, Sonke Brandt Details: Left the Ocean City dock at 5:00am headed for the area around Massey’s Canyon, about 46 miles NE of Ocean City. Today our plan was to take advantage of the blue fin bite and see if we could hook into one of those 150 to 200 pounders. Around 7:30 am we set out a spread consisting of: - 2 lines off of the out riggers Way Way And Even More WAY back with Skirted Hoos - 2 long lines of the riggers with green Slammer Bird Bars - Off the corner, a Planer Rod rigged Carolina Style pulling an RDT Sport Dredge at about 40 feet. Shortly after lines went in we had our first knock down. The port long line was dumping line as Jose got situated. We got him stopped, turned and then he made another run and popped free. Brought the line in, and found that the mono was roughly chewed through; mystery fish. We re-set the trap and Capt Riley got us right back on the fish. The same long line pops and is dumping line. This time Vince is in the seat. By the time the fish is turned, all the braid is gone (900 feet) and a bunch of mono and the Penn 80 is looking real empty. For the next 30 min Vince and the big Blue Fin battle for line. The fish is finally brought to the gaff and on the ice goes a nice fat 46" Blue Fin. We got our one under and now we are looking for two over 47 inches. We had seven more solid bites for the day, brought four more 40 to 46" tuna to the side of the boat. Bite six was Joe's turn and he brought a nice 18# Mahi to the gaff. To cap our day, we had one more Blue Fin Bite and Jose was able to bring a 43" Blue Fine to the side of the boat. We ended the day on the back side of the Ham Bone. We had lots of action even though the big Blue Fin never showed up in our spread. Every angle was able to bring a nice sized fish to the boat and there was plenty of action in between. Thanks again Capt Joe Riley and Aaron Rogers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a link to some of the days pictures http://www.reeldraggintackle.com/Cha...07_Report.html
