hoopa and the others have it right, treet 'em like their big brothers.
Lite lines and small hooks, I use bait and anchor much of the time.
Peanut bunker , small herring, macks and sand eels.
Sand eels are one of the easiest to use. They swim in the current w/out twisting to much. Live, dead, fresh frozen. A split shot can help in strong currents.
I back up to the rip and anchor, stay 30-40 ft. away. Don't forget to put float on anchor line! Some time the fish run down current
Blues and Spanish Macks cut them selves off, oh well.
Put baits before, in and behind the rip.
Cast metal to port and stbd along rip.
Chumming works, I've even used bone's guts.
