| Fluke up to six pounds Fished this past Sunday off the Shrewsbury rocks. Nice drift conditions, got away with three ounces in 70 ft. Hot bait was sand eels w/ no strips. The largest for the day was six pounds on the blk/wht teaser over the three oz white Spro. Ended the day with ten fish. Average 19-22". Also checked by DIV. Fish and Game. for the first time. No problems but an experience. |

| Fishermanski, Curious what your drift speed is in your area. Sunday we were out and when the tide was running strong, we were going 2.5 mph. I like 1.0 - 2.0 the best dragging fluke rigs and slower when using spro bucktails. Usually can only use the spro here around slack 1/2 hour either side or so. Our season ends the 5th so we hope to get out a couple more times before the last trip Wednesday.

| Hey Bob, Im sorry for the late response, I think your season ends today? But the day in this thread the drift was like 0.7 there was very little wind and no current. But on an average where 1.4 to 1.7 . In the Hudson by the Ambrose Channel is where she really rips. Sometimes you need 8 to 10 0z just to bounce a bait back. Not unusual for it to run 2.7 and higher. No jigs there but some really big fish. Good area for the eels in the fall to. Tom |

| Thanks for the info. Yeah, our season is over but always gathering info and trying to apply it on future trips. Have you ever used snapper blues or peanut bunker for bait. We've caught some big fish using these late summer/early fall when season length actually went into fall here...LOL.

| I use them when I can. The peanuts just came in two weeks ago and the snappers last week. I dock way back in the river, almost brakish water. I hook the snappers through the nose on a fish finder rig. The peanuts I have a hard time keeping them alive. By the time I get them in watre after the cat net, and into the well there belly up. Any suggestions. Ps they work great dead , LOL |
