|  ** 350# BLUE, plus more INHERITANCE 8-24-2007 *** PICS!!! OK, I have been holding off till I got the pics, which I now do....so here goes...... Myself, Brad (Possum), and my father (fortier26) left Allen Harbor on Inheritance Friday and headed out to get some fresh blues.....got 'em fairly quickly by 7 AM, and headed for points south. With no clear temp shots in a week due to cloud cover, we took a stab at where we could find some good water after the NE & E blows during the week. Found a small but good break south of Block. Clear water, as found on our last 2 trips when we got our keeper Thresher and Mako. After figuring out the way we would drift (again screwed up due to no wind, as our last 2 trips) we got baits in by 8:15-8:30 and good slick going. The water was like glass, but with very long period rollers up to 6-7 feet. Talked to Capt. Bill Brown.....he was out nearby as well. Very slow bite to start. I think it wasn't until around 11:30 or so that we got our first customer. After working the bait a bit, finally set the hook on a fish that we weren't sure the specie. We knew it was big......... Brad on the rod, he quickly worked up a sweat, and this fish stayed down.......and worked further down. So we powered up and decided to use the boat to work it, again unsure what it was. Kept the slick going as well "in case"  Working the fish off the stern corner, in big circles, we finally got sight of it after 1/2 hour or so. It was a monster Blue. Brad told me it was probably the biggest fish he has ever caught, so this was cool Tag ready, we had it to the boat several times, only for it to make repeated runs downward with the power in its huge tail. This thing was girthy! During the fight we had a dragger pull it's net right thru our slick.....oh well, they are fishing for $$$, there's no arguing with them like the other googans out there. We finally get the shark in position to tag, and as I make my shot, he throws a tantrum, and the tag connects lower than I'd like, yet not low enough to be harmful. (Still a bit ticked at the shot, but it happens occasionally). Next time to the boat, we cut the him loose, with some good shots being taken by my father  We measured this fish on the side of the boat, and it was 11+ feet, and the girth was HUGE. Brad said it definitely was his personal best of any fish specie. That's an accomplishment   Lines back in, we still had our slick. Brad kept seeing a dark fin swimming way back in our slick........but it wouldn't come closer. So Bill suggested I send a bait shallow waaaaay back, which I did.......couldn't get our customer to eat tho. Meanwhile we fought 5 more Blue Sharks, tagging 3......one other got off on its own, and yet another got wrapped up at the boat, then bit thru the line and freed itself. Fished till 4 PM, and slowly brught in the baits, one at a time, in case our way back customer was still there and decided to follow one, which has happened before, when they take the pitch after all other lines are in. Still nothing. So we headed home, after a quick cleanup of some gear, and had a nice ride in, not getting any sea until we hit the sound, when we had a slight following sea, but no big deal. Was definitely breezier inshore. All in all, a great day, especially with Brad's personal best! No exotics, but it doesn't always happen! And we can't complain withthe recent ones brought in, although I'm sure Brad would have liked some fresh steaks......but I'm sure he hit Jim up for a few

| Great report! I was out on Friday as well, and similar day, pretty slow. Them BIG blues sure can pull, huh?

I've caught Blues up to 12-1/2' (had my brother one one a few years ago, we measured out that long alongside the boat after an hour and a half fight, had to be 450#). Would have blown the state record to kingdom come LOL......but I just wasn't interested in killing it for that.
