West Atlantis 08/25 & 08/26

Headed out towards West Atlantis and put the lines in the water at a break 10 miles North West of the wall. Within minutes we had an albacore in the box. We were 3 miles from the wall when we went 2 for 5 on YFT. After trolling the flats for a little while longer we started to head off the wall. Just as we hit the wall there was a temp break from 72 to 73 and then they hit. Sitting in the cockpit all I saw was white water and holes where our lures use to be and now the reels they were attached to were screaming. We had 5 rods going and I knew immediately that these were BIG fish. We cleared the other rods and an hour and half later our first Big Eye was in the boat then the second one came in and finally the hook straightened after a two hour fight on the last fish. By the time we put the fish away and cleaned up it was late and we spent some time trying to find a ball in the dark. We finally set up for the night and had a sword on a butter fish within 20 minutes and in the box it went. A few hours later we had our only other fish of the night a small mahi. Back up on the troll in the am we head right back to where we hit the fish and sure enough they were still there. 2 hours later we had another 2 Big Eye in the boat. We the crew spent and the boxes full we headed home. Total was 4 Big Eye from 189 lbs to 220 lbs, 2 YFT, 3 Albacore, 1 sword and 9 mahi. What a great trip.
