Early BFT Bite Today aboard RELENTLESS

Do not leave late, do not be late and do not pass go. Today we ran a shared charter BFT trip on Stellwagen Bank with plans toleave the dock at 0500. One of the anglers showed up a little late and it was closer to 0530 when we left. It was a nice ride out east with a perfect sunrise. Arriving on Stellwagen Bank at 0630 and getting the rigs out we had our first take down and hook up at 0640 with angler Peter Frackelton manning the rod. Peter did a great job on a fiesty fish which I thought was much larger the way it hammered the black squid bar. With Mate Jerry with the great avatar leadering the fish I sank the gaff into the 45" BFT which surely would be a start of a great day after listening to several friends hooked up.

Well after trolling several hours later after the bite shut down after we got our first and only fish made it for a long day. All members of the group appreciated our efforts and did enjoy seeing the whales feeding on sandeels. Speaking of sand eels, the fish was chock full and I am sure they were all stuffed and did not eat any more during the day.

We will try again in the AM leaving the dock at 0430 and have lines out by 5:45. I hope to have better results to post tomorrow evening.

Respectfully,

Dave

Good report. How is the harbor for the bigger boats now that it's been dredged? I remember years back on a charter with Capt. Dave Patry dragging the keel through the sand at low water because we were late, and it mattered that much.

Good report Dave, those 30 minutes can make or break a bite like that. At least you got one. Keep it up !!

Nice Report Dave,

Too bad one late angler caused the group's chance to catch one or two more.
Joseph and I are trying to figure out how we can get out with you one more time now that our family is settled in after last week's sad outcome.

Hope you stay well.

Al

The dredging of "the narrows" has really improved issues at the entrance of GH. There are some skinny spots up inside that create problems for boats that draft 3-4', we skimmed over a spot Sunday afternoon on the way back in. The plans for this winter include dredging the inner part of the harbor but no specific timetable has been announced.

How could people be late for charter???? They sound like my wife,
40 minutes late for a 45 minute, 200hundred dollar psychiatrists appt.
Boot em from the crew, make sure you get there deposit and leave
without em. Now if it was that easy to get my wife.

On our Way

On our Way,

Headed out the door in 14 minutes and hope to be off dock at 0430, let's see if today's group can do better. As far as leaving without them, that is a tough one if you want long term customers. Trust me he heard me say 100 times, I wish were were out here earlier, I know we would have done better.

I will update a report tonight upon our arrival.

Thanks,

Dave

Great report Dave..........but AAARRGGHHHH that must be frustrating (lateness).

Bites are so often like that.....ONLY EARLY......

Gotta be out there with lines in so you're ready......

When I fish with other people, I most often beat them to their own boat LOL
