back from the Tails8/28-29/07

headed out to the tails to sneak another canyon trip before school starts.
left the dock at 1pm Tuesday due to generator problems loaded up at Montauk and we were off. Got to the flats at the 450line were we saw lots of whales and life at about 5pm. trolled for about 2hours along the flats and right as the sun is going down we get hit both green jets up close on the new 30s go screaming landed the two fish both nice size yellows in the 60pound class range. put the lines back in and as i am letting the rainbow 9inch bar out it gets crashed but didn't hook up. 2 minutes later we have all the lines in and two rods go off a gain both taking purple skirted chugers with ballyhoo landed the two albies in the 40pound class range. stopped trolling because it was dark by the time we got the fish in and cleaned up. Went to the east wall of the tails to look for a ball to tie up to due because of the choppy sea conditions. tied up and put the lines in at 9. had tons of bait and squid around the boat for most of the night managed one hook bait squid. Nothing on the chunk at night besides one knock down at 3am when putting a butter down at 80 feet didnt hook up just missed the hook . Set up for trolling at 4:45am and headed to were we got the fish the day before. Saw tons of life and whales and porpoise at the exact place as yesterday trolled through there and with in 30minutes of trolling tip starboard rigger with 9inch rainbow squid bar goes screaming landed the fish being another albie. Set the lines back in and with in a 45minutes the 9inchrainbow squid bar goes off this one being a nicer fish around a 70pound yellow. put the lines back in and trolled the area some more with nothing to show for. So we headed north and trolled until we hit the 40mile mark and packed it in and headed for the barn. all and all a good trip and a good time ended the trip with 3yellows and 3albies. will be running this weekend some time again to the canyons.
we missed you out there vin hope the boat is ok garret was a big help and as usual always gets his a$$ handed to him by the fish.

heres some pics. tight linzzzz i have to now get ready for school tomorrow

Good job Blake. We decided to drift because we thought the winds and seas were going to calm down. Wrong choice we got bounced around a little and called it quits around 1:30. If we stayed we probally could have picked a couple more on the morning troll. We headed home with enough fish in the cooler. Great job everyone.
