Everyone is out fishing I think. Last third of summer and trying to spend most of it on the water.

I got hurt recently doing more around the house and property than I should even consider attempting

Unless things get better quick, I won't be fishing anytime soon. Back and neck are pretty messed up. Muscle spasms are killing me. I'm planning on getting back into the shop for some woodworking and plug making in the next few days. In moderate amounts of course....

I want to make a very large pikie. 10" long, almost 1 3/4" in diameter and likely to tip the scale at 9 or more ounces. It won't have a metal lip but one of lexan. I had the prototype pretty well worked out and I hope to get it done and swimming in the next week or so. I gotta work slow at this point but I want to stay active....

I'll post pics when done.

Here's the prototype... 7.5 ounces (lighter than I expected) 11" long.
Please excuse the sloppiness... I was rushed to get one done for a trip out today to the islands. Paint was still wet and I got fingerprints in it everywhere. Lip is slightly out of alignment too

Oh well, I'll be tossing it at the rocks anyway... No doubt it will be beat to snot by morning.

Tried a new sealer on this one too. Can't wait to see what it does when chipped up on the boulders. I hope it works out well as the sealer dries in seconds and is ready for paint in minutes.

The wood is maple, knowing the tendency to swell and crack, it should be a good test.

Couldn't hook up on it yesterday but boy oh boy was I pleased with it. Had several big cows follow it to the boat but none took a swipe at it. Switched to eels after dark and managed several fish to 40 pounds.

Plenty of scars into the wood on it from the hooks and a rocks and no paint loss, swelling or cracking. I'm going to put it in the hot tub overnight for a swell test. If that doesn't show any problems, I have a new sealer to use and it is fool proof.

I'll clue you in if it works out Ed.
It's too off the wall to even mention at this point.
Been down that road already. Bring something up to help and a thousand guys come on and tear ya a new one.

I would rather have a bunch of use under my belt before I have to hear why it wouldn't work from the KIA crowd.

I will repeat this much. It dries almost instantaneously and can be painted over in a few minutes

It's not crazy glue (mentioned CA before) and has never been posted on any of the boards I frequent. It also cleans off my hands effortlessly.

For now:
