What have you got to say about the topic of: "Live Eel Teaser". Here's how is started: "I've found myself on the boat with some real small eels and I use conventional "

| Live Eel Teaser I've found myself on the boat with some real small eels and I use conventional gear exclusively. Casting some of them has been a real challenge. It got my thinking about putting a small lure out in front of it to add some weight to the catch. I've used egg sinkers but in the area I am now fishing, that usually results in a hang-up on the boulders I am fishing with. I also drift an eel out the back of the boat and started to think a small swimmer in front of the eel may help get it down under the surface. Here's the prototype I've been testing. I can take the hardware off and use it as a casting egg, put the shoelace eel on the hook or leave the hook add a drop leader and have the eel follow a foot or so behind. It might even add a little life to a dead eel. Tests in the pond have it swimming real nice with a dead eel out back on the dropper. Can't wait to see what it does with fish around. ![]() I popped some of those glow eyes in there too. If it works, I'll put something together that doesn't look so rough....

| Just took it out to a larger, deeper pond for a few test casts.... ![]() Back to the drawing board..... it's not doing what I want. Not enough wiggle... ![]()

| It's maple and painted. Get rid of the acrylic? Why? I just did 3 more in a larger size. I'm hoping they will handle the weight of the eel better. On this one, the eel was too much drag and stopped the swimming action.

| I got your solution (I think) - get a large chatter bait blade with a lead head (you can go as heavy as you want). The Chatterbait blade will make that eel dance, dance dance baby! We use them for soft plastics while bass fishing, essentially the same thing, just a smaller version. Check out the video and you will see what I mean - look at what happens when they remove the skirt and add a soft plastic jerk bait http://www.ausspinlures.com/lures/chatterbait.php You can get the blades in various sizes from Tackle Making suppliers - add them to your lead weight and you got a great teaser for the eel!

| The action is great but the retrieve is way too fast for an eel targeting a striper (at least in my opinion). Can it be reeled in slower with the same results? If so, it will be a winner. I need a very-very-very slow wiggle. (Those are the instructions to my wife as well )
