New Play and Stay Package at Villa del Sol

Interested in coming back to Cabo but ready for something different? Had enough of the pushy timeshare folks at the big resorts? Ready for complete relaxation at your own private villa? If so, then we have the spot for you. RedRum Sportfishing is pleased to announce our latest Play and Stay package at Villa del Sol.

Villa del Sol is an ocean view luxury villa located in the prestigious gated community of Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas, 5 minutes from downtown. After a long day on the water there is nothing like relaxing in the outdoor palapa or taking a dip in the infinity pool. Don't feel like heading out for dinner downtown? Not a problem. Why not have a chef come up to your villa and prepare your day's catch for you and your guests to enjoy.

If relaxing on the beach is a kicker for anyone in your party, less than two blocks down the hill from this house is a private beach that stretches for miles.

Five large bedrooms all with private marble bathrooms make this villa ideal for couples and families alike. A modern fully-equipped granite kitchen, an entertainment center complete with TV/DVD/CD and satellite, as well as a computer center with wireless Internet, computer and scanner/fax/copier are just a few of the other features.

At Villa del Sol maid service is daily, and babysitting, private chef and spa services are also available.Villa del Sol offers RedRum clients a luxurious Cabo vacation at a fraction of the price of the crowded resorts.

Packages start as low as $500 per person for a 4 night stay with 2 days of fishing. Villa Del Sol can accomodate up to 14 persons comfortably. Custom packages with longer stays and more fishing are also available upon request. Be sure to check our Play and Stay page on the website for more details.

Summer Fish Report Round-up

Enough about villas and engines, right? You want to know what is going on with the fish. Have the Black Marlin arrived? Where are the boats heading in the morning? Are the Dorado still around? Any Yellowfin of size making their way into the spreads?

Let's see if we can give you a better idea of what has been happening with the Cabo Fishery.

The boys have been leaving the harbor around 6:35-6:40 a.m. and hitting up Furia, our bait guy. Greenback Mackeral have been in better supply and of course, the Caballito's are abundant.

All the action has been up between Los Arcos and the Golden Gate Bank. Within 25-30 minutes of leaving the harbor the boys are stopping at Los Arcos or Jaime Bank and getting the lures wet.

Ballyhood Daisy Chains in baby Dorado and lime green have been effective on the corners for smaller tuna. On the outriggers the boys have been using medium-sized lures in Silver Flying Fish, green, lime and baby Dorado colors. Baja favorite Petrolero has not been as popular the last few weeks.

Tuna have been "on and off" which is up on the consistency chart from "hit and miss." For a few days we will get into the Porpoise schools and have 4-10 fish days and then it will dry up for a few days. Last month we were getting single, random bites from schoolie-size Yellowfin. The Tuna this past month have begun to show some size as well. A few fish in the 60lb class and even a few at 100lbs or more have been landed.

Dorado fishing has been good as well. Early to mid-August we were seeing some phenominal-sized bulls in the 60 and 70lb class dancing behind the back of the boat. September Dorado have come back to reality with the average fish in the 25-40lb range. Which, in case you have been really spoiled, is still a phenominal fish.

Striped Marlin have been the most consistent fish over the past two months. From July 1st through today the waters off Cabo have been boiling with Marlin. While the average over the past two to three months has been about 6 Marlin a day for the 4 boat fleet, 6 in a day for a single boat is not unheard of lately. I think Captain Cesar has the record with 12 releases in one day. Cesar also had a pretty impressive three day trifecta where he released 7, followed by 10, then 10 again. Luckily, Cesar has come back to earth; therefore the office staff doesn't have to hear how he is "the best captain in Cabo" dozens of times each day. We may agree with him but let's keep that between us.

Blues and Blacks have been "hit and miss" on the aforementioned consistency scale. Blues in the 200-300lb range are being landed more frequently in the past two to three weeks. Rumors of a few big Blacks have been making the way around the Marina. RedRum boats have yet to have one make it's way into the spread.

Overall, it has been a fantastic summer in Cabo. October and November are often thought of as the best time to fish in Cabo, but if you are looking at the calendar for next year I would give serious consideration to August and September '08. The shear number of fish caught by RedRum anglers the past few months is astonishing.

Thanks to all the anglers who have made 07' one of the best RedRum summers ever. Look forward to seeing each of you back in Cabo next year.
