Thanks Chuck, I guess I was a little vague

Actually, the white ground....."ideally" should be grounded directly to your truck, not the trailer, if you can. Unfortunately, many light kits "blank out" the white wire where it normally goes to the plug, and they leave it slack to attach to the trailer. Not good.

This means your ground is entirely dependent on the ball/hitch "connection" (friction only), which is sometimes not good until you drive down the road a ways and "seat them", wearing off the rust.

So try to make the connection so that the white wire directly grounds to the truck somehow. If not, it isn't the end of the world.......
