Sad Tale

Bob & Mag - thanks for the update on local conditions. It is puzzling. The New Haven Register had an interesting story on the boat (the owner had a 24 footer with a bad engine and traded down). The boat brand appeared to be a "Midland" (not one I am familiar with). It could have been a big wake but its still weird (I grew up with big wakes in the New Haven area with small boats and never had a really big problem - but do have a wild story that I won't go into in this post). Anyway - the paper said the boat was bow heavy - according to the marina (Old Harbor in Clinton).

What is interesting was that I watched the coverage late last night (11) to check out the boat. I had watched this boat all year at outer SW reef, he appeared to be a big scup fisherman and I saw him out in moderately crappy weather quite a bit (I was out also) - but the boat appeared to handle fine and he knew what he was doing. I was drifting next to him one day (it was choppy) and he asked if I had jumper cables (I didn't) and I asked him if he was OK and he said yes. Not a long conversation but this makes this incident more dramatic for me.

Its great that we don't have more loss of life at sea, when it happens it really hits home.

May they both rest in peace. (very sad) Jack
