With these new ethanol gasoline fuels things that would have worked for years are now giving boaters all kinds of trouble. I was driven nuts by a portable six gallon tank that the ethanol fuel ate a pin hole right through the intake tube at its very top (inside the tank, of course). If I pumped the primer hard enough I could get back home since the surplus gasoline would squirt out the intake tube and fall back into the tank. I do not care how good a fuel pump you have, if your intake tube is holed, you have got problems. The recommendations made by others to substitute a portable tank is a good one. If your motor then runs well, you will just have to pull the guts out of your old tank and fix or replace what is broken. |
