I hear you about the not knowing and even if you're confident, something in the back of your head keeps saying "ethanol,water, ethanol, water". LOL
The latest research regarding winter storage is keep the tank "empty for best results and full for 2nd best". To be honest I have kept it between 1/2 and 3/4 for two winters without any ill effects. I do add stabilizer prior to the long nap taking one last run in the boat to make sure it's mixed well. My feeling is I always like to top off with fresh gas in the spring. Don't know if that's why I've not had problems but so far it's worked.
Note it's a newer tank, lines etc (2006) so nothing "should" get eaten away.
Also my oil is self-contained and not mixed in the gas.
I guess I could pretty much fill the tank and siphon it off in the spring into the car...
that would be in Maggie's car LMAO or put it to use in the mower etc.
Another product I tried is ezorb which is supposed to asorb any water and break it down into small particles that will burn in the motor without problem. Not sure if it's snake oil but someone is doing a small test on THT with it. quart of gas(ethanol), 2oz of water and 2oz of ezorb, shake well and water disappears. Now he's storing it without moving the container to see if any separation takes place.
We'll see and I'll post any semi-scientific results.
Tow Boat US or Sea Tow is always a good backup plan.
