| RedRum Fishing Reports Cabo san Lucas skip to main | skip to sidebar Saturday, December 15, 2007 Saturday, December 15th Cesar ended his 2 day slump on Tantrum by catching and releasing 6 Stripe Marlin in a little over a half-day trip. Redrum owner, Ryan Donovan impressed his friends David Redden and Ricky "the Sailfish King" Brown by hooking them up with Cesar and Americo for a day of fishing. Jeff Waldron and his group headed out on Rum Runnin and had a great day with Javier and Manuel. They caught and released 4 Stripe Marlin when the day was over. Grey Cooper and his wife took Reel Rum out for the first of thier 2 trips with Omar and Jesus. 3 Stripe Marlin and 2 Dorado later they were back in the office talking about how excited they are for tomorrows trip. We'll see how they do. Adios, Luis Posted by RedRum Sportfishing at 4:07 PM Friday, December 14, 2007 Cold Winds Blow through Cabo A cold front blew in to Cabo late in the morning and could have slowed the fishing down for the Redrum team. Omar and Reel Rum said they did not spot any fish until 12:30 in the afternoon. Luckily they were able to hook up with the only Stripe Marlin they saw. A yellow and orange trolling lure also attracted a Dorado to the boat. Cesar had a slow day, spotting only 2 Marlin. Unfortunately he could not get the fish to take the bait and came back empty handed. Alex stayed back with El Nuevo to do some maintenance work while Rum Runnin also reeled in a Stripe Marlin and a Dorado. Posted by RedRum Sportfishing at 1:27 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2007 Summary of Trip with Redrum I recieved this email from Duane Hons who fished with us just a few days ago. I thought I would share his exciting summary of his trip with Redrum. "I have confirmed that December is the right time for Cabo! We arrived on Wednesday afternoon to 81 degrees and sun! A few Cervesas and Margaritas at Misiones De Kino and we were to bed fairly early to prepare for an early morning of fishing. Left the marina at 6:30 and right away we had a Dorado hook up. Next up was my friend Sam with a 5.5 foot Mako Shark! Then it was on to the Marlin. Day one we caught 4 Marlin from 120-215 pounds. MINE WAS THE BIGGEST and measured 113 inches long!!! For Dinner, it was off to Miguel Loco's, they almost had to roll us out of the restaurant! Day 2 was another fast start on SolMar I and we ended up with 5 Marlin from 120-180, one for each of us. I think my Dad and my buddy Russ were both in the 170-180 range. A few other hook ups that either broke the line, (one mako) and we were done with another great day. For Day 3 we had an oppurtunity to fish at the infamour Finger Banks! We were ready early for the 3 hour ride out. We ended up with 14 Marlin with Russ and I each with a 99 inch(170-180) and I eclipsed that with a 105 inch (190+). We probably had 5-10 more on for short periods and it was truly pandemonium. We caught those 14 in 4 hours. I figure 30 minutes on average so that is over 7 hours of reeling!! ALL in 4 hours! Then a 3 hour trip back and all were dozing!! Not a whole lot of fish to eat this time, but having Marlin swirling at bait fish under the boat and seeing so many it was simply incredible. There were times when we would look under the boat from the bridge and see 20-30 marlin all at the same time. Just pounding on the bait ball!!! It was tough to come home from the 85 degree weather to 20 degrees and wind chill of about zero when we stepped off the plane last night Thanks again for the WONDERFUL service and taking such good care of us. You guys always seem to amaze us by going above and beyond your expectations." Redrum prides ourself on customer satisfaction and getting letters like this is what its all about for us. Posted by RedRum Sportfishing at 6:50 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Tuesday, December 11th Tantrum shined brightly today after comming in with 14 Yellowfin Tuna. Bill Matheson and his buddy arrived last night for a 2 day fishing vacation. They headed out with Ramon and Americo on Tantrum as it was Cesars day off. They thought it would be a good idea to head out for some Tuna and Ramon agreed. The day was slow and only 1 Yellowfin was caught until about 1:30. She was trolling back to the dock and right before they pulled their lines in to make the run Americo spotted a group of Porpoise. They put the "peadal to the metal" so to speak and pulled right in front of the school. "We dropped lures right in front of the Dolphin and bang, bang, bang each one went off" Ramon explained to me in an excited, almost cocky tone! Needless to say, Mr. Matheson and his group were very pleased with the way the boys fished and their relentless effort to score their anglers some Tuna. Rick Rozycki and his wife headed out on Reel Rum to do some Marlin fishing. Omar headed out with Rene as his mate. The two of them worked hard all day and when the day was over they had hooked the Rozycki's up with 3 Stripe Marlin for his first, second, and third Marlin catch ever! Cheers to that! Rum Runnin and El Nuevo took out our buddy Billy Brenton and his gang. The crews tried every which possible way to land fish for these guys but the Marlin bite came up a little slow today. Rum Runnin was able to lock one in for a catch a release while Alex had a little bit of a longer day and came up empty handed. Marlin were spotted all day but they wouldn't take any of the bait. Brenton and his group will head out tomorrow to give it all they got. Posted by RedRum Sportfishing at 3:37 PM Monday, December 10, 2007 Port Closed to due Hard Rain and Heavy Winds At around 4:00 am this morning a nasty storm hit downtown Cabo San Lucas. The storm quickly brought strong winds, lightning, and a lot of rain. It was in the best interest of the Harbor Master (Port Master) to make the decision and close the port for the day. Luckily we were able to reschedule our anglers for later trips in the week. Thank you for understanding. As of right now we are still recieving high winds but no rain. The forecast looks in our favor and things should be back to normal tomorrow. Til then, Luis Team Redrum Posted by RedRum Sportfishing at 2:27 PM Saturday, December 8, 2007 Saturday, December 8th We have recieved nothing but compliments about Captain Cesar lately and if you read the fish report, you know why! Today Isaac and Frank Andrade from Ontario, CA had a chance to fish with him aboard Tantrum. They were very pleased with the 5 Stripe Marlin that the boys were able to get them into. Isaac and Frank are father and son and got to share something very special. Nothing like reeling in a 180+ lb. Stripe right next to your Dad! Reel Rum also had a great day with Scott Lavine and his buddy. Omar made sure they got their workout in by hooking them into 3 Sripe Marlin for Catch and Release. We also set up a partner boat with the Mr. and Mrs. Major. They were able to catch 3 Stripe Marlin and a Mako Shark! Time to sit back and watch Hatton vs. Mayweather!! Go Hatton!! Adios, Luis Team Redrum Posted by RedRum Sportfishing at 2:35 PM El Nuevo - Finger Banks Trip Update I just got off the phone with El Nuevo Captain, Alex and he told me there count was 14 Stripe Marlin. Duane Hons and his group decided they wanted to test their luck on taking the 2 and a half hour cruise out to Finger Banks which is up the Pacific Side. As of 1:00pm Cabo time they had caught and released 14 Stripe Marlin!
