OUCH

Touchy subject for me.....

Myself and my partner Billy Silvia were the RI distributors on these, and we initially had a great reception to these. I had experimented quietly an entire year, and had very good success both inshore and offshore with them. Check out Black Salty live bait for saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing and go to the picture pages to see some of my catches on these. I landed a 53 pound striper on one in late fall a couple of years ago, along with a yft and many mahi mahi.

They are actually common goldfish, selectively bred for their tolerance to salt water.

I plan on using the small inshore size in 2008 for chumming purposes in the canyon.....

They made an emergency law banning the holding and selling of goldfish in the state of RI as bait. There were no laws preventing anyone from using goldfish as bait in salt or fresh, but now it is illegal in RI fresh waters, only can be used in the marine fisheries, and you can only get them via shipping now, as we were no longer able to distribute them locally. I got a real taste of RI government with that ordeal.

The fedex shipments they send are very reliable, and insured. Very few baits die in the shipping, and they keep very good in a large livewell with fresh water at your house. Bring a couple dozen each time you go....I had a batch get delivered in Sept. while I was offshore, my wife dumped them into a 150 gallon cooler, and thats where they lived for almost a month, with only water agitated by hand once a day, no filtration or aeration.
