Ru's were made in France, discontinued in the 70's. The RU Mer, Atlantic and Pacific were the best saltwater pluggin and eelin reels I ever used. Originally they cost under $20. (in the 60's) They lasted forever. I still have a working Pacific, the biggest model. I gave an old friend a bunch of Ru "corpses" and parts to see if he could put together some working reels. I have tried Penns, Okumas, Shimanos and Quantums. NONE of them measure up to the Rus.
