My Dad just gave me some Fluke rigs his buddy tied. This guys swears by circle hooks on his rigs and claims great success......

Anyone ever tried them for fluke?

I've not tried them on fluke. Actually on use them on togs. Would be interested in you results. How are they fishing them? dead-stick?
Usually I've got to drop the kahle hooks back when fluke picks it up and give it time to work up the bait to set the hook. Am interested to see how circles would work. I'd suspect if fish moved off in different direction to the boat it would hook up well but facing the boat, would they not pull out?
If not, then it might be a great set-up for drifting baits.
Curious what others have experienced or think of it.

Circle Hooks Work Great On Fluke, You Just Have To Fight Off That Urge To Set That Hook When You Feel That Bite Start, Just Keep The Rod Tip Bent Slightly And Bingo They Hook Themselves. Definetly Have A Circle Rig Out Deadsticking While You Are Snapping That Bucktail.the Only Issue I Have Had Is The Size Of The Hook, Sometimes You Have To Try A Few Until You Are In The Money.

THey work fine. I prefer plain Octopus hooks, though. Why wire?

So you just reel, you don't set with a circle hook?

Can you sharpen circle hooks?

Thanks. I had bought a bag of those at Cabeles and was going to rig them just like that.

I now know someone else thinks they will work.
