| Closed Tog are closed for Recreational as well as commercial. Commercial opens April 15th 2008, and rec May 1st. Current proposal for regs on rec looks like 3 fish May 1st closed June 1-30 July 1st to Oct. 3, and increases to 8 fish 3rd Saturday in October, down from 10 fish. Size limit looks to remain at 16 inches, but not finalized yet AFAIK.

| regs Meeting on tuesday at URI Naragansett to review reg options and for public to speak on small business effect. Seems like tog is a done deal. Scup might go from 25 down to 10 per day with a bonus 45 day season. Summer flunder must take a 52% hit which means 3-4 fish down from 7 per day. No meeting set for that, yet. I expect that to go to 2 fish next year because of fed regs. Just my 2 cents. |

| Thanks guys, looking at the reg's from last year I couldn't find anywhere where it said it was closed after 12/15 and reopened on 5/1. Thanks for clarifying.

The fluke will definitely be down to 4 fish, possibly 3. Next year we are probably looking at 2 fish at 20 inches to sdtay within federal rebuilding guidlines(what a joke) Looks like it will be 8 tog for sure? I can live with that no problem, heck 5 per man is enough if you ask me, and would like to see the size limit increase to 17 inches, so we don't end up in the same mess as NY with their 14 inch baby killing limit.....

| tog Now every one knows why I work/fish in RI and live in CT. By next year expect Fluke to be 2 @ 20" and Tog to drop like you said. The feds are making regs coastal VERY soon so get used to it. Time to snap up pin-hook commercial finfish permits while we still can.Try the |

| I wonder with the majority of the boats being small fishing boats 20-25 feet in length at most the S.shore marina's and the size & quantity restrictions/reductions in fish species.......if the average hosehold will still pay $125/foot to keep the boat slipped, plus high fuel prices etc........ This may be interesting, but may correct it's self......... Or the Bass will take a hit next?????

| I think that might be a good thing, provided they get with the science and go to a slot....something like 2 fish between 21-28 inches, and 1 trophy over 43" would work real nice. There is currently waaaaay too many shorties under 28", increasing competition for food sources and preventing any larger fish from getting there faster. Couple that with the fact they make you take the perfect breeding sizes, teen size through 30 pounders, as the majority of those killed, and you have an over abundance of small stripers making up the stocks. If that fish goes to gamefish status, we may see problems in the future as the rec side kills the lions share of fish every year.
