I owned a 22' Lobster before my 23 Pacific.

I'm not gonna say good or bad but give some words and observations:

They are custom built, which can be good or bad. The guy whom starts the boat after the molding process finishes it. They do a pretty good job, however if I were to buy one it would be direct from the factory. I would also make numerous trips up to see the process and insure what they have built is to you liking and acceptable.

They are wood stringer boat which are encapsulated in glass.

The free board is quite low as it is built after a commercial work boat. This can however be circumvented by adding a coaming (at a price) to raise the side 4" or so.

Electrical work is good but basic. The bare necessities to get her on the water.

22' hard chine
24' round chine

Two completely different rides.

If you are close and go to Milton NH for a sea trial make them take it in the "slop" you will run with. Many boat buying decisions are made on Eastern's being run in the mill pond up the road. You want the feel in the ocean with a 3' SW chop.

They claim low HP to push them but I would not put anything less then a 135HP on the 22' Lobster.

Can be wet how ever on the Lobster you are protected

Consider as a comparison Judge Yachts Custom Boat Builders Eastern spin off but with glass stringers. Seaway Boats manufactured by Seaway Boats Inc. is another.......

Remember this: The top deck looks are only looks. Very eye catching to a NE boater. What's below the deck is what counts. This is why you want to see the boat in the early stages.

Also consider Maritime Skiff boats. Very Seaworthy fishing boatsand of course if you want to own a low maint. beer can then there is Black Lab All-Welded Plate Alloy™ Aluminum Center Console and Pilothouse Boat Manufacturer
