| wire line trolling ? What type of wire do you prefer for trolling? I've been using "regular" stainless but am considering re-spooling the rods with monel. Any feedback?

| Monel, This nickel-copper alloy provides maximum corrosion resistance in fresh and salt water and due to its high density it sinks more rapidly and stays deeper than other trolling lines.

| monel is also a little more forgiving and not as easy to get a kink in it as wire.

| I've used both and really can't say I prefer one over another. If you know how to use wire, Stainless is fine. If you have newbies using them, go with Monel. If you get a kink in stainless, you can usually straighten it without severely weakening it. If you get a kink in Monel, it's bad. Softer material, more prone to breaking if you straighten a kink. That said, I currently have 60# Stainless. I never use 40#, too "delicate" for me LOL and definitely more prone to kinks.

| We fish wire alot,and I think that the monel stretches too much.The less stretch, the better the action is in the jig.Where we fish, if the jig is not on the bottom then you are wasting youre time. |
