I'll be in. Was looking forward to it last year but it was the same weekend as the Star Isle Tournament. This year I was for going the SIYC and doing the FLW. I agree with the posts of the Star Island thread that the comraderie is not there and that there were to many blue dogs thrown out.
FLW will be different and cannot wait for the season to kick off.

well, team special k fished hard all day for the flw new london tourney. started @ sugar reef to a good schoolie bite. i had one good fish break-off due to a failed albright knot from braid to mono leader......something that would later haunt me.......and prove costly$$$$. overall the day was slow, moon tides & small fish. slowly fished my way west all the way to the sluiceway where we picked up a 33" fattie better than 14lbs. with her in the live well we were now contending for the big prize. alas, the last couple hours gave us only one bluefish from valient, with us eagerly awaiting the viewing of this fish from the deep. team special k only one fish to weigh. ( we concidered keeping her for the bbq) winning teams all had small weights... all 28lbs and ozs..
now, at the weigh in i start thinking of my failed knot and how easy it is to simply add a dab of crazy-glue to the connection.
with all my preparation i failed to glue my leader knots!
the difference between finishing "in the money" and 14th place>
fishing a tourney leaves no room for mistakes, especially simple ones.!
expensive day but a learning experience for my first tournament.
cheers! cap'n mick

Similiar results. We concentrated the race & light house. Managed one keeper (slot limit worthy). Wasn't because the effort wasn't there because we though everything including the kitchen sink looking for the second fish. never hapened. Will definately do the tourney again next year & can't saythere woul b anything done different.
