One Pin Hookers System

HI:
DOORMATTER and DOORMATTER EXPRESS:
SIGHT , SCENT , SOUND;;;;;;;;;;;
I fished for these fish for a lot of years, PIN HOOKING THEM.
The fish had to be between 5-8 pounds for the LIVE RESTAURANT MARKET.
This can be a one(1) or TWO(2) rod system.
ONE:
SIGHT;
A).Use a rod that you ATTACH a 36-40 inch leader. ATTACH IT 8-12 inches above THE SINKER on a dropper loop. why? 'cause, FLUKE DO NOT SEE WELL STRAIGHT AHEAD. they see better up and out to both sides. THIS WAY you cover 8-12 FEET OF BOTTOM on each drift! Y COVER TWO(2) FEET OF BOTTOM IF YOU KEEP YOUR RIG JUST AVOVE THE SINKER? DOES NOT COMPUTE .
SOUND:
B).Use a DEEP CUPPED COLOR CODED BLADE in 10 or more feet of water.
HINT...HINT...HINT... All my records show that IN LESS THAN 10 feet of water, A NONE BLADE RIG WORKS BEST. WHY? I JUST DON'T KNOW.
In water deeper than 10 feet a DEEP CUPPED BLADE is best. That SOUND attract FLUKE from far away. Guys I know who dive have told me time and time again, that they SEE Fluke come from long distances to follow this rig.
SCENT:
C). For most fish in the 5-8 pound range ( my catch records) 6-8 inch strip OF fillet WORKS BEST. OVER 5-8 pounds a 8+ inch strip works best with a STINGER HOOK ADDED 3 inch in front of the fillets end.
HINT...HINT...HINT.. ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS... Put the hook up Thru the fillet....SKIN SIDE UP.
I'll repeat that....SKIN SIDE UP. WHY? ' All Fluke will come up and open their mouths, and SUCK the bait in! If you hook it MEAT SIDE UP, U WILL have that FILLET roll OVER ON ITSELF and YOU will have to drive that hook THRU that FILLET AGAIN. DUMB? YEAH, I've done that too many times. I guess I've finally learned. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!I HOPE!!!!!!!!
FILLET:
I use a MACK strip from the MACK'S side 1st then a belly strip next as my 1ST CHOICE.WHY? Besides color.....SCENT. I found that I've that MACK oils and COLOR really OUTPERFORM most every thingelse for COLOR and SCENT. Sure Fluke belly and Sea Robbin work too,BUT , for me MACK FILLET works best for me.
COLOR:
I ALWAYS put a 4,3/4 INCH skirt over the hook. I place AT LEAST 4 color matching BEADS UNDER the skirt and in front of the hook. SEE MY WEBSITE on my rigs. ADD that DEEP CUPPED BLADE and your ALMOST THERE.
SCENT:
Add a big KILLEY(4-5 INCHES) ON TOP OF the FILLET. HINT...HINt...HINT... ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS... HOOK that KILLIE from BOTTOM BEHIND the lower jaw and UP and out NEXT to it's eye. WHY? 'Cause that way the KILLIE will JERK,BOUNCE,THRASH and EMIT hurt SOUNDS(add to SOUNDS above).
HINT...HINT...HINT... A strip of squid works well, BUT, (theres that BUT again) SQUID SCENT washes OUT in a matter of minutes while MACK STRIPS hold the SCENT LONGER. 'NUFF SAID.
PLACEMENT:
Drop this rig o/side and put it back NOORE THAN 30 FEET BEHIND YOUR BOAT.WHY? 'Cause after 30 feet the ANGLE of your mainline to your rig gets longer and longer THEREBY DROPPING YOUR LURE/BAIT COMBO CLOSER TO THE BOTTOM. OOUUCCH, I've done that one too.
This rig is dead sticked. BIG FLUKE will come up and bang at this rig and HOOK THEMSELVES.

RIG 2:
It's called a DOORMATTER EXPRESS
It consists of a CHROME BALL on one end, A SSHHOORRTT length of leader(with attractor)3-5 inches long that ATTACHES to the CHROME BALL. That way, Any FLUKE will NOT MOUTH THE CHROME BALL and SPIT THE HOOK.Yeah, they will do that if attached next to the ball.
ABOUT 10-12 inches ABOVE the CHROME BALL, you tie in a dropper loop and attach your next hook with attractorfly. Make sure ytou have a GOODswivel that attaches the rig to your mainline.

USE:
Two ways to use this rig.
SPRING:
SSSLLLOOOWWW movement UP and down, with long pauses after 4-6 up and down movements. That holding should be at least 5 seconds.
SUMMER:
Fast is the key here. BANG and CLANG this rig OFF the BOTTOM. See SOUND ABOVE. Bifg Fluke will suck this rig down easily.
Bang this QUICKLY in short fast, nesty hops, making as much NOISE and SAND sports as you can.(see SIGHT above). Big FLUKE will CRASH and TRASH and BASH this rig like never before.
OK, you can see ho much I love fluke fishing. I've talked your ear off enough.
All of the above are excerts from my seminars on catching GIANT FLUKE.
look at my site for more info and to look at the rigs I mentioned. They worked for me and I know you'll get the rigs to work for you.

My second favorite.

There are certain time when BIG FLUKE only want Red/White.

I have much success with this rig as well.

You know, I have found that Chartruese is a better color to use when the water is a bit dirty.

I find White and Pink better in clean water.

I don't know how the Fluke see it, I wish I did.

But White and Pink seem to get distorted in dirty water much more than Chartreuse or even Fluorescent Yellow say.

This is all great information. .....I was just debating with a friend of mine whether he enjoyed or better....There were some great pro's and con's reached for both species.

I was saying the toggies are tougher to catch, fight harder, and are just overall more exciting but I am also a huge fan of Fluking!

He was saying - "How can you beat a gorgeous summer day, engine off, drifting around, and hammering big fluke?" He was also saying that the fluke meat is better....

Tough to argue with his points....Flukin is definately a much more leisureable fishery.....We are lucky to have such great bottom in Rhody!

Color Does Matter

HI:
Depends on where you fish for the color choice you need.
North shore of L.I. it's PURE WHITE or White with Sparkles for a first choice. After that it's Green with sparkles on the 4,3/4 inch squids.
South Shore it's GLOW,Chartruse or Pink or White. August would key the Pink color over all else. In water over 40 feet, It's BLUE/Sparkles or Glow. My biggest Fluke came on these colors around wrecks and 40 or 60 foot depths.
Jersey Shore it's Chartruse or Glow or Green. Offshore it was Glow or Blue or Chartruse.
Mid-Atlantic worked inshore areas with Whit or Chartruse or red.
Shallow waters....10 feet or less, was White or Chartrusse or Pink.
Down in Florida where I live now, in the Intercoastal or shallower, New Penny or Whit with Chartruse or White with Green worked best.
Now Comes the "BUT"..............................
ANYTIME you see that FLUKE stomachs are filled with baby BLACK SEA BASS, or SEA ROBBINS......THEN BLACK.BROWN or RUST combinations that MIMIC the baby fish their FEEDING On is the KEY. Even over the wrecks down south , these color cmobos work and work and work. Late June off Point Judith, Late June/early July off Massachustes, June on Long Island , July on the Jersey Coast , Early August off Delaware for all the BSB and S/Robbin colors I mentioned .
Time after time when these fish (BSB , S/Robbin) all over the palce, these color combos kelled 'em.
I had one guy call me at 05:00 one morning, asking to have a few made up and sent to him in the keys. Seems thst those colors in Doormatter EXPRESS (chrome ball and double hooks with T'ZERS) earned him some big bucks on the party boat pools . Good for him.
Remember, Fluke can't see well in front of them. IF you keep your rigs UP and OVER them (8-12 inches), You'll really increase your catch rate.
