| Fix tear in Grundens? Not sure where I should have posted this, but does anyone know a good way to fix a 3 inch rip in a pair of fishing pants? They are pvc, with a cotton lining. The tear is right in the knee. I have tried a few types of patches for tents that I got at Walmart, but they don't hold??? Thanks. |

| Honestly, in my experience it is better to just get a new pair... That being said, I did have luck with a piece of grundens pants from a different pair that were destroyed, and aquaseal, the stuff guys repair wetsuits with. I placed inside the leg, and it did a reasonable job, but still leaked a bit...I only wore them in fair weather conditions to keep blood off my clothes.

| Not that you'd have it still (how many of us actually do LOL?), but when you buy them, they come with a piece of extra "fabric". You can have it sewn on, with or without some sealant, to stop the tear. If you don't still have it, try something similar.

| Funny that you mention the patch that comes with the Grundens. I have mine for about 5 years and up until about 2 weeks ago if you asked me what happened to the little green patch I would have said I have no clue. I was cleaning out the trunk of my car last week and lo and behold, it was sitting at the bottom. Now I forgot where I put it.

| If you lost the patch that came with your bibs when you bought them, you can always buy the patch kit or buy some marine goop and goop it pretty good. I was at Wilcox Marine one day and the guy there said he uses a pool patch kit to repair his gloves, bibs, etc. I think the kit is pretty cheap and is readily available from places like Benny's, especially as it's almost pool season.

| Offthehook, that's too funny! LOLOL Actually, kind of on the same line as Chris's post, you can use 5200 to seal 'em up, probably even WITHOUT fabric, if the tear isn't huge. I repaired an 8" tear in Jim's commercial Bonar cooler in the bottom (he was test-running an outboard in it LOL  ). I just cleaned it off, gooped 5200 on it, and it set up like we the people. Probably last forever, as 5200 is like cement.

| Man I am retarded I never even thought of the 5200 route, that stuff is bullet proof I lose the patch before I even get home, LOL, and didn't feel like shelling out the 10 bucks when I cut into my pair for the patch kit. I have had the 2nd set for 4 years running, couldn't even begin to tell you where the f-n patch went, but no holes yet. Usually about time to replace mine, they get used so much. I am going to try the 5200 on my back up pair with the makeshift patch.  Of course it helps that I have no less than 3 pairs of Guy Cotton as back ups(don't really care for them, crappy fit), that have been left on my vessel by unknown clients...One pair even has CHARLIE TUNA written on back and front.

| LOL, Dom, you could probably use 5200, and just use paper backing to keep it "even" while it sets. Might not even need a patch. Stuff is awesome for sure.

| Duct tape always works wonders. A little duct tape a little 5200 and a little more duct tape for good measure.
