| Shark fisherman GOOD NEWS Thought I would pass this along From Steve James at Boston Big Game Club Hello All! The Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Amendment 2 to the Consolidated Highly Migratory Species Fishery Management Plan is now completed. New England recreational fishermen have won a victory over the Environmentalist as they failed to impose their proposed moratorium on the porbeagle shark fishery thanks largely to our letter writing and email campaign. Congratulation is in order to everyone that took the time to voice their concerns over the proposed closure of the recreational porbeagle shark fishery. We, as Recreational Fishermen, can still keep one porbeagle shark per day, per vessel measuring 4.5 feet or larger. A full electronic version of the EIS is available to download online at: http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/sfa/hms/hmsdocument_files/FMPs.htm Best Regards, Steven James = |
