Fishing Report-Branford CT. June 1, 2008

Slipping out of bed at 4:15 I pat the still sleeping pup on the head and kiss the wife on the cheek. Slip downstairs for a cup of java and to grab the fresh bunker out of the fridge. Grab the boat and the car keys and head for the door. Slip over the the side at 4:45 with two rods and slip the bunker into the cooler. Keys in the ignition and lower the engine, push the start button and feel the shudder of the engine. Flip off the covers and turn on the electronics; lines off the dock and the boat in gear by 5:00. To the mouth of the harbor at 5:20 and to the local reef by 5:40. The New Haven/Branford boys on this site know the reef I'm thinking of from last year. The Sun just making its first appearance, warming my cheeks. The lap of the water against the hull, very little wind and only one footers. Lined up just right and the three-way rig over the side. Drift right over the edge and seconds later the first bunker is gone. Rod doubles over and the Avet reluctantly gives some line. A few minutes later the first stripes of the day are boated. 22 pounder, nothing huge but a good start.

O.K., we aren't there yet.........but its coming.

Hello, Fast Mover ! ! !

Hey Doug,

So good to to be inspired by you again. Hope to run into you on our reef
next month. Can't wait to be out on the water again. Have been smoking
store-bought Salmon during the winter and am itching to catch my own
stripers and blues.

Wising us all a great season, riding on even more expensive gas !

Hooked Where do find your keepers ?

Hey, Doug,
I've been to our spot a few times but you must have found better ones, I hope. This has been the slowest start of season for me, and I hope to do better soon. Can't wait to load up my smoker with some big fresh Blues !

How are you doing?

Hans
