Thanks Dom,

I really did not want to head out to the commerical dock tonight for squid. It is only seven minutes from my house, so I would have gone because there seems to be so many in this form that are raring to do something after this winter's layup. I think I will go back to my old tried and proven method of catching squid. Head out to the Stonington Commercial Pier with a worn red 5 gallon plastic bucket. You do not want a brand new one since the red would be too intense. Tie a 20 foot line to it. Attach bait to the inside bottom of the bucket as you would not want it to break free and drift off. Only use this technique when the squid are at the pier and in great numbers. Do not let the bucket sink down into the depths. Wait about two minutes and you will be amazed at how many squid will be in the bucket. The best bait is a $20 bill, and make sure when you flip it out it lands on the deck of dragger offloading squid.
