I've been doing it from land last few years. Used to do it from the boat YEARS ago with round headlights mounted to plywood and hooked to car batteries, on a pole, stuck in the rodholder
I admittedly never tried it from land until a few years ago! Kinda nice to walk back to your car and go home whenever you're done......that's one good thing.....
