| 5/2 Buzzards Bay Bass 5/2 Buzzards Bay Bass Riptide is on the board for 2008 with bass finally. This morning Ruge (fresh off the plane from the Bahama's) Spilt and I ran out of Bourne Marina around 0630. We headed out into the bay and ran to our first destination. Dispite rave reviews niether we nor a buddy boat saw any action. I did have a small tog follow my Bomber Long A, but that really wasn't what we were looking for. The piles of bait and easy fishing that had been reported seemed to be missing on this cloudy rainy morning. So after about an hour of plugging away with various offerings we decided to hit a few other early season spots. This is no easy task in the new ride. Most of my early sopts are better fished from a yak or tin boat than a 35'er. But none the less we worked our way into some skinny coves and after hitting a couple holes, Ruge took the curse off with a nice fiesty bass around 20". As is the rule, once you find them holding they comes pretty easy. We all took turns hanging the little guys and even had a few doubles. We worked the area for an hour or so before Ruge's work duties forced a return to port. It was good timing because the cold and wet was starting to work its way into my hands and was making casting a bit difficult. Final tally between a dozen anda half and two dozen fish. A few fish had a few lice, but I'd hesitate to say they were new fish. The size ranged from 18-24" and they were very active and aggressive. The water was 5-10' deep and in the mid 50's. The lures of choice were Bomber long A's and Fin S shad on Kalin's Heads. I tried some new Gulp Alive Spray I saw at M&D's Tackle. Not sure if it madea big difference, but it gave us something to discuss every few casts as I misted everything with funky fish smell. Overall not a bad outing we all got fish and the larger ones gave a good tug on the light gear. As usual I'm looking forward to the big push of surface feeding fish that should be coming very soon. We didn't see any bird activity, but there were allot of cormerants in by MMA, surely a sign of good things to come. Due to the damp weather and on an off rain, no pics or video from this trip. Now to bring the internal temperature back up in a hot shower . |

| I haved about the same report in the upper Bay in RI. We managed some fish but it just did not turn on the way it has been in the last several days. I still believe in the old saying "when the wind is from the east the fish bite the least" they still bite but not a good. |

| That saying sounds good and easy to remember.
