Slow Pick in Chesapeake Bay

Today we left the West river at about 7:30am and fished the 86 to just south of 88. We worked all depths and both sides of the channel. It was a day of slow picks here and there. All of the fish were between 30 and 37 inches and FAT. I took one of the neighbor kids and we brought two fish home for dinner.
All of the action came off the planners, the Tony 21 was the hot ticket today accounting for three and the two others came of single rigged 8oz six inch bucktails. All of the fish were caught comming off the channel edge going from 45 to 60 feet. We pulled lines at 1pm and headed in.
Here are a few pictures of Henry doing the catching:

Take a kid fishing, and all the world's woes go away. Sounds like a fun time, even with a finicky bite on those Rockfish.

Good report Ken, how's the new boat working out?

A day on OTW is a day OTW and there's no look of disappointment there

Alloy; As you can probably guess, these Bay runs are really to tune in the Canyon Draggin' for our offshore season. So far so good. She's a 2002 with 100 hours on her, so its might as well be brand new.

I did have a Grady surprise out there yesterday... I had the live well running and it was not draining water fast enough, so it was spilling into the cockpit. I figured I had a cogged drain and began searching for the cause. After removing a few panels in the aft cabin I discovered that there is a sea cock on the discharge hose from the livewell and it was only 1/2 open. I gota get the book back out because I don't remember that one! I did not have one on my last Grady... Anyway, its all good now.

Any day! We have had several warm water eddies spin into the NE Canyons. We're just waiting for a weather window!
