The things I do for this form! After 5:30 PM Mass at Saint Marys today, I walked over to the Stonington Commercial dock to check out the squid situation. I was a civilian, no jigs, no rod, no light, and in church going clothes. Spoke with a sole angler who had just started squidding. At 7 PM three anglers of Asian ethnicity showed up. Of the four fishing I saw nothing caught in fifteen minutes. However, the back side of Gambardella's building had several fresh ink splats on it likely made the night before as sloppy anglers allowed their prey to slam into the building. The lone angler informed me that they were into them heavily on May 8, of last year. He also stated that when they are running good, it is arm to arm anglers. Apparently there is a very strong Asian contingency in the area that swarm to the dock by cell phone notification at the first sign of action. Even more amazing to me, it was lamented that inconsiderate anglers last year had actually tied into Gambardella's 120 volt exterior outlet to power their lights. Do not count on it being energized this year as I will make sure this petty thievery ceases. While I know the members of this form are good guys, I was stunned as to how low in character and values other anglers can be.
