I managed 2 meals worth, but that's about it.
Was east wind, but very comfortable until real late when it started blowing and drizzling. Got raw.
Started around 8 PM, and packed up when the generator ran out of gas and the lights went black on us LOL....was 2:30 AM.
Saw Dom heading south under the bridge and yelled to him. Either had a squid charter or a bunch of guys just out fishing. |
We just got back from Newport. Went out around 1 this afternoon from Wickford. Checked the traps I got from Dom, again a ton of spider crabs. Can you use spider crabs for anything?

Chum mix? Moved the traps to a new spot. Tried for a fluke bite west of beavertail then off Newport oceandrive areas..nada...switched to Tog in the bay, had some fun with them. Never really fished for them rod and reel...always used a spear as they make good target practice. I'm chewing my last bite of dinner now..tasty little bastard he was. Only one male and a bunch of females. Just kept the one.
We then tried for squid at sunset for about 1 1/2 hours anchored up by the bridge. Saw another boat bring in a few. Then a small boat with two Asain guys anchored next to us. Watched them bring quite a few in. Oh Asian squid master show me the way! We didn't get squat.
Glad the day turned out nice and it was great to be out getting some dinner
