i really think furuno is the way to go when it comes to sounders. not saying that the HD Ray machines aren't nice because they are. i just think furuno is the best and most bullet proof. i also think that color is a must have...which means your choices are:
used 600L--~$275, 350w
used 582L--~$550, 600w
new 620L--~$675, 600w
new 585L--~$1200, 1kw
i don't list new 600L or new 582L because i think you're better off w/one of the new machines (620/585) if you buy new. the big drawback to the 600L is the interface--buttons--as opposed to the knobs on the other 3 machines. knobs make adjustments faster and easier. the 600 is also a lot less powerful than the other 3, but unless you're headed to the canyons i wouldn't worry about that. |
