Lobstah Inheritance / Albatross Kill 7-6-2008

Brian (Albatross) joined my father and I on Inheritance for a "Fluke Trip"......well, more on that later, but my father and I's experience the day before prompted us to try for bass first LOL.

Headed out of Allen Harbor at 5 AM, went and got our fresh bass bait to go along with our arsenal and we headed south.

Weather was FAC......TOO calm! We had NO tide all morning and no wind. Made it very tough. Tried both spots from the day before. Nada so far.

Chris (Rover74) was nearby also, and they started getting some good action on liveys. We were chunking/eeling. With no wind/tide, the liveys were the key!

Chris and his dad gave us a couple bass, since his father is allergic to fish......these guys are all about the sport ......well, my stomach likes LOTS and LOTS of fish

Anyway, Brian and I spot a swirl near us while we're drifting (if you could call it drifting). He casts a popper with a rattle in it, landing it just past the swirl. The bass CRASHES it almost instantly, and after a nice fight on fairly light tackle, Brian boats our first nice bass.

No other love and we finally decide to wrap it up and head fluking. Head across the bay, Brian catches a quick Seabass, and I a mystery fish....brown, fast, decent sized, but not a fluke (although that color brown).....this fish broke off my jigs at the boat.

Anyway, we have no drift still, so no love fluking. We see a couple guys catching bass on chunks right up against shore, so we say F-it and head in there.....back to the bass LOL. Pulled into 5 to 8 feet of rocky water, a bit hairy in the Fortier LOL. Casting naked chunks (no weight).....after a bit, my father's rod takes off and the fish screams for the horizon, looking for deep water......dumped a good amount of braid before he was able to safely start gaining. Nice fight, nice bass over the side.

The wind now kicked up, so we went back to fluking, after no more bass hits.

Found a nice Honey Hole that had all 3 of us hooked up consistently. Kept making drifts over this area. Had problems with Bluefish as well, unfortunately....lost a LOT of Spro's to blues and also a couple very aggressive fluke LOL. Landed 10 keeper fluke to 24-1/2" Only about 3 or 4 shorts! When the tide slowed, so did the fluking.

We screwed, with 4 Bass (2 from Chris), 7 Bluefish, 1 Seabass, and 10 Fluke. Brian and I had some cleaning to do LOL.

All in all, a long day, but we got it done and had a good time.

Oh, and about 2-ish, Brian says how he's had a nagging headache all day. I asked if he took anything, and he said no, why, you got anything? LOLOL......I had a bottle of Advil Liqui-Gels in my bag all day hahahaha. I had even taken some earlier myself. LOL. Sorry Brian, thought it was funny....been there before, it sucks!

Here's the pics.....
