I got the opportunity to head out with Chuck this morning. Met up at the dock @ 4:30 AM and as soon as we got out of the slip entry, there were adult Bunker everywhere....and I mean everywhere. We spent the next 30 minutes snagging bunker 'til we just stopped. Plenty of bait in the livewell.
Headed out to one of Chuck's spots and started livelining. The blues were out in force, chomping the Bunnker to the head. We landed 2 Stripers, one @ 20#. Good by me.
I landed a gator Bluefish @ 15# solid (weighed it). That would've taken the the WICC last year. I am willing to bet this year's winner will push 20#, with the volume of adult bunker in the western
LIS area. We'll see.
All in all, an excellent way to start the day. Chuck is a great guy, and that Polar is a real nice boat.
Back at the barn for 9:00 AM for Chuck to pick up a paying customer for a Bluefish charter.
