Thumbs up fishing in Jurassic Park

merry xmas everyone from 000 deg 39 mins S
Xmas below the equator is a little different, The pyrotechnic skills of the islanders are scary, no firecrackers, just bombs made from Pvc pipe and black powder. Butthe fishing is as good as it gets this time of year, the fishery is year round, only setback is a little bit of wind and cooler weather in june thru dec, Humboldt current comes up from antarctica and brings cool wind and cold water with it, It is like gulfstream of ice water, sea is choppy ,uncomfortable but not rough ,dangerous, like Nantucket in fall. Biggest striped marlins show up then all average 250 to 4oo lbs not bunches like in summer months ,remember your summer is our winter, enough fish to make it interesting, also that time of year you will sometimes see happy feet following outriggers, Penguins on the equator??? Yep and they like it so much they forget to return south,so much food. Best season is mid Dec thru beginning of june, we specialize in pitch baiting, big ballyhoo with circle hooks. dragging hookless teasers and picking the stripeys off of the teasers. There are good hotels with AC, on San Cristobal where I am based and Tame and Aerogal have daily flights from Guayaquil, Ecuador, except on Tuesdays. It is not uncommon to get 20 to 30 bites a day, but being the way they are, striped marlin have an uncanny way of coming unglued, they are white marlin on steroids eating LSD and act accordingly, very frustrating some days, but this is why ,it is called fishing not catching ,regards and happy holidays to all. difficult to put plankton on hook.
