Gambler Offshore Seabass Trip | | I just got back from the Gambler's first offshore seabass trip of the year. It was great. We had a nice ride out. We started fishing before sun up and the fish decided they would cooperate. As my rig got to the bottom the bites started and the seabass started coming up. I was on fire this spot. My only time for resting was on the way down. As soon as my rig would touch the bottom I couldn't take it out of freespool before I had a fish on. I only kept 15 at this spot throwing back all fish that were on the small keeper size if under 16inches it went back. I could have easily had my limit here but was trying to save it for bigger fish. My dad wasn't far behind and neither was Eben. Our cooler was full here so we now went onto a tote. After that spot slowed we moved to another wreck and I got 2 more keepers. My final tally for the day was 17. I'm not sure how many my dad had or Eben had but we ended up with 56 keepers for the 3 of us.The fish were hitting clams and squid. I noticed a couple people jigging but had no success. There were almost no porgys. There were a couple blues and a couple pollock. The pool was about 16lbs. My dad and Eben did team up for a total of 3 ling for Eben to go home to. We only made 2 stops for the day. The boat, Capt. and crew were great. Can't for the next trip.
