| Hi, Passions run very deep on this issue. I believe most states loose too much money from the return of the collected Excise Taxes. It may be the Breaux Bill. Someone can correct me if necessary. The amount of money returned to a State is based on the number of fishing license owners. Dependent upon which side of the bed I get out of affects how I feel about a license. The article does have valid thoughts. I idea that comms do not want to see us have a coast wide licensing system as then the politicians will know that a big block of votes is out there, has merit. I know all this becomes a States Rights Issue but I think a Federal License is the way to go. A very low cost license so everyone can have one. It should be a lifetime license and maybe cost a buck or two to cover the cost of shipping it. Do not set up a seperate bureau to handle it. It is doable. Look, they have us collecting the Excise Tax and sending it in quarterly and they PAY us pennies to do it. It is a shame that we don't trust politicians when it comes to handling our tax monies. If only they would do the right thing instead of always taking care of themselves. OOOPS, getting side tracked. Capt Neil
