Forum Rules This is a private forum and not a public entity. Your membership here is dependent upon following a few, loose, rules, so that we can be effective. All content is considered to be copyrighted works of NBSSportfishing.com and is not to be copied without prior written permission.
You will have to register before you can view most of the content here.
1. Post Basics Let's keep the discussion to the topic it is under. Keeping the threads and posts on topic, and focused around the varying aspects of marine fishing is imperative for NBSSportfishing.com to be of value. We have no problem with humor and personal antics, as it livens up the place, let's just try to keep it on track. If it goes too far off track, we will simply lock the post up, and typically will leave it as is.
There is to be NO BASHING, whatsoever, of other forum boards.
The above is not all inclusive, but you get the point.
We are here to share information surrounding the topic of marine fishing and associated interests. We have not put this forum up to provide a venue for argument or criticism. It's all good to ask questions, post comments, and even retorts. If you have any real beef with a post, either take your concern to PM, report the post (via the Report Post icon), or simply ignore it.
There are times when members will have it out with each other, or possibly even with the staff here. It will be allowed to go for a while, and will eventually be deleted. There are many reasons and causes for these types of wars, and we often are only privy to one side of the story, when there are usually 3 sides (one of which includes the truth). If you have trouble or a problem with it, take it to PM or simply avoid the thread, pretty simple.
2. Advertising & Classifieds All Charter, Fishing, Boating, Tackle, and marine like businesses are free to put links in their signatures/avatars here on NBSSportfishing.com. Advertising (and associated costs) in the forums, banners, and ad pages is available by following the Advertisers link at the top of the forum pages
Businesses of the above nature are encouraged to participate in the forums before making posts about their product lines. It is good practice (common sense) as well to see if your offering is going to compete with any sponsor on NBSSportfishing.com. While we do not prohibit these types of posts, you are encouraged to use integrity based decisions when deciding to make a product offering.
If your business has any associated controversy, past or present, with any of the NBSSportfishing.com sponsors, please do not engage in product offering posts. Should this be revealed, your thread/post will be removed, without notice nor conversation.
3. Fishing Locations Honestly, when posting a report, it simply doesn't matter. If you want to say where you fished, do so, if not, that's all good as well. We would rather know more of the details surrounding the outing (such as air temp, water temp, tide, wind, seas, bait, technique, etc.)
4. Adult Photos & Content Rated R is the key word here. Nothing over and above that, period. Image/Text deletion will result if violated. Repeat offenses will result in membership deletion and permanent ban. We are all adults, mostly men (no offense intended ladies), so the posting of bikini/scantily clad ladies is all good. The same would hold true for ladies wanting to post up pix of Chippendale type images.
5. PM Usage If you have a message for a single person, or trouble with a post someone has made, use Private Messaging (PM) to address it. Private Messages are pruned based on age. Any Private Message that reaches 181 days old will be automatically deleted. If you wish to retain any of your Private Messages for longer than that, please use the download option at the bottom of the Private Message view.
6. Jokes, Opinions, etc... Let's keep it to the "Bring It On" Section, ONLY
7. Regulatory & Enforcement Forums If you post a question in there, be patient for the response. They are busy folks, with organizations that are traditionally understaffed. If they have committed to providing guidance, they will get to us.
8. Forum Administration & Moderation BluewaterTops & Possum are the owners. Possum is the Site Administrator. 74Formula233, Andy, Bob & Mag, ReelCrazySportfishing, JustMako and Piscator are the Moderators
Beyond this, there may be a few others who moderate specific forums. Moderators and Administrators have final say in all matters, period. Their call is final, in all cases. None of us/them are here to hinder your usage of NBSSportfishing.com, however, we reserve the right to edit inappropriate or inflamatory content from a thread/post.
9. Banning, Deletion, "Super Ban", etc... Use your head and basic common sense. If you do that, all should be good, unless you have no common sense or are here to cause trouble. There is no recourse once you have been banned. You are simply gone, and we are efficient at covering these bases, technologically. On this topic, simply because a person is banned does NOT mean they cannot be referenced or used in pictures, that would be ridiculous, as they are usually someone's friend, fishing partner, etc... You can feel free to discuss or mention banned members, as that is how real people socialize and operate.
10. NBS Photo Gallery There is a NBSSportfishing.com Image Gallery available for use. It can be found on the forum menu bar, and is called Photo Gallery. Just click on the link and you'll be able to either view or upload images for use here on NBSSportfishing.com. You can upload pictures and link them in posts, via the link text provided under the picture, which you can just copy and paste directly into a post.
11. Cross Linking To Other Forums For the most part, this is not an issue here on NBSSportfishing.com. There are a few forums where their names will be censored (******) here, due to ill will on the other party's behalf. We are about sharing information and are fully aware, and supportive of, other forums in this space. Limiting ones' access to information is not what we are about.
12. Image Content Here Images posted on NBSSportfishing.com are inherently copyrighted by the same (unless copyright is held elsewhere). A watermark will be placed on all images in the Photo Gallery and attachments. This does not preclude any from using them elsewhere, only that said party needs to obtain permission from NBSSportfishing.com to do so. No charges will ever be levied. This holds true for any smileys created by this site as well.
Stay tuned, and stay aware. NBSSportfishing.com Administration & Staff, Copyright ©2006-2010
Forum Etiquette Please do not TYPE YOUR MESSAGES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE THIS LINE. This translates as shouting on the internet. Granted, sometimes it is appropriate, but don't do it as a rule
Any warning from a forum administrator or moderator should be discussed with that person in private, over Private Messaging, not in public forum.
If a thread is closed, a similar thread should not be opened. Likewise, one shouldn't post a thread to inquire as to why it was closed. This should be posed to forum administration with a Private Message.
If a post is quoted in your reply, you should only quote a small relevant section of it, not the entire post.
Before opening a new thread, you should search the database and make sure that subject has not been discussed before. If it has, you should add your post inside the existing thread and not post a new one.
If a post is against rules (or you think it may be), you should not reply, quote it or discuss it in the forum. Instead, you should click the "Report This Post" link and notify forum moderators to take action as they deem necessary.
If any word in your post is replaced by ***, this means it is in our word filter list and that you should not use that word in the forum again. Please do not attempt to bypass the filter list by manipulating the syntax of the word. This could lead to a temporary or permanent ban from the forums.
If you receive a Private Message or email from another user, you should not post it publicly without prior consent of the sender.
If you don't like a member in the forum, you should put him on your ignore list. Do not flame forums regarding such users or reply to their posts negatively.
These are just a few. Common sense should prevail when posting.
