Budget Spinning outfit

Any suggestions on a heavy spinning jigging outfit for tuna in the 100-150lb class without going to the expense of a Stella?
I'd like to have something that stands a chance with these fish without spending a lot on it.

I bought a Shimano Spheros 18000 and stuck it on an ugly stick....I'm not sure which ugly stick it was and I have only hooked up once to date with this outfit but it worked fine...The entire set up was less than 300.00.

budget spinner for Tuna

I have a Fin Nor Offshore 95 on a Hopper 500 rod from Capt Harrys loaded with 80 Cortland braid (500 yd) and its a tank. She's been good on Tuna to 180, Amberjack, more big Sharks then I can count, Tarpon, Grouper, Jewfish and anything else that I can think of. I might be off a little in the prices but I know that I'm close. I don't throw plugs with it and she might be too short but for what I do it's been perfect

Reel 169
Rod 149
Line 80

Fin Nor

Fin Nor's Offshore Series has an amazing drag system by all accounts, and i think for the money, $170 range, they are tough to beat. I have combed the internet for the negatives on these reeels and I have yet to find it. I think I will buy a couple this season to keep on-board for when the opportunity presents itself.

i have tested many spinning combos. I have seen the fin nor's break all the time, rods and reels. Also, the drags in the penns can only catch on fish.

The two reels i would recommend would be the new diawa saltist spinners or a shimano saragosa. I have caught many fish on each of them and they will hold out the season. Then make sure to get them serviced.

As for rods it all depends on what you want to spend. Crowder makes a decent spinning rod for the price. It is 7 ft long.

Personally if you can afford it the OTI rods are the best bang for the buck.

my 2 cents...
