4/10 Splash!

4/10 Splash!
With the sun out and temps up near 70 today I just couldn't control myself. I had to get the boat in the water. I have been rigging, prepping, cleaning etc. but about 4pm today I said enough is enough and I dragged the dirty boat to the ramp at Bourne.

It was a nice easy splash since i was the only one at the ramp. The boat lit right off with a huge cloud of fogging oil smoke. I let it warm up for a while while I played with the new HD camera. I mounted it to the T top and then headed out for a spin.

Apparently the harddrive on the camera will shut it down if you run over 2-3's. One flat water or small waves the camera shoots great and the videos are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Even the vibration of the top is minimal with the anti shake turned on.

I'm still playing with the camera and the editing software, but the way things look I'll be able to run a "Week in review" video up to about 10 minutes long each week. The processing time and bandwidth limits won't allow for daily video, so my regular reports will remain the same.

I am REALLY excited about this HD video, I've put in allot of time and effort and it looks like it will work out the way I was hoping. The video will be hosted in widescreen 720p and it loads fast enough to view it on a wireless conection on a laptop! The resolution is like nothing I've ever seen online. I watched the raw footage today on my 46" flatscreen and I swear it looked like I was on the boat again. It won't quite be the NatGeo channel but it WILL be close!

Rippy, that sounds really cool. I will have to give you a shout because I am very interested in video for my boats this summer. I'll talk to you soon. Capt. Eric

Hey Terry,

Glad to hear that you got the ride wet already, and that things went well on the shakedown cruise. Looking forward to some awesome video of you terrorizing the local fish population!

Hope that this season is just as successful and productive for you as the last one.

See you out there.

Dom

Can't wait for some video once the tuna come in. Weekly reviews on video sound like a great idea. Good luck this season.

That is good. I did the same thing to my boat this winter. I can't wait to try it out.
