9 Yellows at the Fishtails Pic Added

Went out Thursday June 19th on a friends boat, since the weekend was looking a little iffy we decided to go Thursday. First question was do we just go sharking closer to home or do we Swing hard and try to get our first canyon trip of the year in? Duh with the Forecast we were heading to the Canyons.Day started off with the captain being 15 minutes, and had a couple of us pondering if it was going to be one of those trips. But in short order we were pushing off and the engines raced up and everyone settled in for a 3.5 hour ride. P Our target destination was that nice horn/finger of warm water that pulled off the main body and was now touching the Fishtails. As we approached the fishtails we noticed two other boats already on the troll. The water went up 2 degrees and we decided to go lines in about half way down the tails. There was a little bit off life, a few birds looking and one quick glimpse of dolphins. As we were putting lines in we radioed the other two boats seeking a report. Report was "We are seeing some life but only have caught one Mushie" Well that made our decision for us we were pushing off the bank more.We found the break from 66/71 and started zig zagging it head out, it wasn't long before that magic sound of drag screaming was heard followed by those magic words of FISH ON! Our spread got crushed with only two lines coming tight but seemingly every lure getting hit as we watched hoping for more hook ups. In short order we boated two Yellows in the 20/30 lb range Not big but much better than being at work. Lines back in and we worked the X were we initially hooked up but found no other takers so we started our criss crossing of that break again working out in about 30 minutes it was on again. This time we came tight on 4 much smaller fish with only 2 of the 4 being legal. We decided to be gentlemen and give the 2 boats up in the tails a tip that if they weren't doing anything they might want to point thier bows our way as we were still in easy eye site of them.Soon after our helpful tip we saw two bows heading our way. And then large splash as one of our close Ballyhoo gos crushed and line was screamng off and then the other close Bally started getting crushed 3 times by a larger fish great show but the second one never came tight and we started to fight the first fish, in a few minutes we had a 50+ Yellow gaffed and boated. Now we were in for our longest lul of the day 1.5 hours with no solid hits, but we did hook 3 or 4 Mushies. Our lul was rudly interupted by four rods going off at once all with Big fish. we could't get any of these fish turned and very soon one of the fish cut from one side of the boat to the other so fast no one could get out of the way and 3 of the 4 rods snapped their line. We fought this one fish and in about 10-15 minutes brought a real nice 80-100lb fish to the gaff. The day was getting old and we said 1 more hour and we were throwing in the towel. One hour passes and nothing so we start clearing lines stowing gear for the ride in. With 2 rods left to clear and telling our new found buddy that we called over that we were heaing in and good luck wouldn't you know it both rods came tight. One was a Mushie and one was a 20 lb Yellow. What a way to end an awsome day and the first canyon trip of the year. The fish hit everything we put out. Black and purple bars, green machines, Bally's naked or skirted, Tuna clones (mexican flag), rainbow machines, small jets. They hit baits small and large. When we were cutting them we found some of the fish filled with Krill, and one of the larger fish had a whole Mushie in it's tummy head first. We also saw a couple of HUGE tuna fish on the surface out there but couldn't entice them. Hopefully I will get some pics up this weekend

There are definitely fish there. One other note we found them more towards the cold side of the break and they always hit when we were following sea.Now if I could just get a pic uploaded, I keep getting an error when I submit it to gallery
