Change of plans

Slight change in plans.

Got a call last night from Hoopa with an invite from a friend of his out of Point Judith looking for crew for an overnighter to the edge, leaving Thursday morning returning Friday...

How could we say no.

Weather looks good so "Hoopa Drives the Boat" and "On The Edge" will be "On the edge".

Thumbs up GOT MARLIN!!!!!

I am going to make this short and sweet. I have not slept in 2 days and am heading back out for a sharking trip in the morning.

Left Point judith at 9:00am thursday morning aboard Hoopa's friends 40' Ocean yaht.. plan was to head to Atlantis troll all day tie up to a ball for a night of chunking and get back on the troll at first light.

I was expecting to troll and chunk up tunas and Mahi but I never expected 5 Marlin as well!!! Thats right 5 MARLIN

Hoopa was the first to play with the first of 4 whites a nice 80lb class white. Without getting into a lot of detail we went tight on 4 white marlin to 100 lbs and 1 Blue Marlin estimated 450 lb that hit a 4' bar 30' off the stern while we were clearing a small mahi and reseting the spread.

Our final tally for the day was 20 mahi mahi in the box, 3 yft between 50 and 65 lbs in the box and 3 others lost at boat side. 1 white marlin landed and released (Hoopa will have to post the pics they are in his camera) 3 others lost after brief fights, and a huge estimated 450 lb blue marlin lost after an explosive hookup and 2 blistering runs on a 50 wide. We lost this fish to a broken main line and watched him porpise away from us with the bar he hit still in his mouth....

This fish almost took the capts 14 year old son who was on the rod overboard on the second run. If i had not grabed on to him he would have been "Swimmin wit da fishes"

This fish was LIT UP, PISSED OFF , and just exploded like a rocket on his second run and LITERALY took the kid off his feet...

All i can say is WOW.

My thanks go out to Capt Elliot of the "Bill Fish" out of Point Juith RI and Hoopa Drives The Boat for inviting me out for a Great day and night of canyon fishing..I Can't wait till the next time...

Thanks again Guys...
